This week’s major announcement marks yet another shift in the CRM landscape and promises to fully synergise SAPs Front and Back Office Cloud solutions once and for all.

In case you missed it: SAP has confirmed the acquisition of cloud-based software company Calidus for $2.4bn.

Calidus Inc (an otherwise little-known Californian firm) boasts a successful portfolio of Sales Performance Management (SPM) tools designed to increase the 'win' rate at each stage of the buying process, essentially increasing sales.

Calidus products will be fully integrated with SAP Hybris once the deal is complete.

The latest move will quash any doubt about SAP's ambitions in the E-Commerce space and shows it's committed to a segment of the market where it has sometimes faltered.

The recent appointment of SAP veteran Alex Atzberger to the position of President at Hybris should also drive innovation and bring a fresh perspective to the table.

Coincidence or not, SAP Hybris looks set for an interesting year ahead.
